GH2023 will be honorably patronized by the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
For the 5th conference, besides the five usual themes of GEOTEC HANOI series, i.e., Deep foundations, Tunnelling and underground spaces, Ground improvement, Geotechnical modelling and monitoring, Landslide and erosion, one new and imperative topic on sustainable development, namely Coastal geotechnics & wind energy is also included.

Introduction of Hanoi
Hanoi, Vietnam’s elegant capital, lies on the banks of the Red River, the cultural center with puppetry, music, and dance performances. Hanoi ranks among the world’s most attractive and interesting cities. Originally named Thang Long, the city was first the capital of Vietnam in A.D. 1010 and has had many names until its current incarnation. The name Hanoi, in fact, means “bend in the river” and denotes the city’s strategic location along the vital waterway.
The moment you arrive in the Vietnamese capital, you’ll find streets within the city centre where well-preserved precolonial and colonial buildings, a hundred of ancient pagodas, and unique museums stand proud. A great place to explore and go sightseeing on foot, this French-colonial city is also known for its delectable cuisine, vibrant nightlife, and production of rare silks and exotic handicrafts. Within the city, you will also find a multicultural community with touches of Chinese, French, and Russian influences. Hanoi is definitely worth to discover with myriad of must-see monuments, famous places, and cuisine, no matter whether it is your first-time visiting Hanoi or not.
